A Weekend Away…
Nate and I had a really wonderful weekend down in South Florida hanging out with friends and getting to see the Dave Matthews Band live at the Cruzan theater. We laid out by the pool, drank mojitos (my new favorite), grilled out, and laughed a lot. Nate and I really needed to just be able to leave town for a few days and not have any access to work or to TV. Although I will be completely honest, I’m not a big fan at all of spending an entire weekend in a bathing suit and shorts. I spent a few hours strongly considering moving up north where I can get away with being completely bundled up at all times. And where I could wear boots and scarfs every day. But you do what you gotta do. Pass the mojito please!

Like I said before, this was my first time seeing the Dave Matthews Band live and I was pretty excited. Nate and I had our fingers crossed that they would play our favorite song, Lie in Our Graves, even though it’s an oldie. (Have you heard it? It’s amazing. Seriously, go listen now!) We had tickets on the lawn which pretty much guaranteed our getting wet at some point from the ominous clouds swirling overhead. A few $10 beers later, we had managed to squirm our way into the packed crowd just a bit off center and with a fairly good view of Dave over the only three people who had chosen to sit during the show. I got yelled at by some lady old enough to be my grandmother and got a beer spilled on me (whoever designed this thing was genius!… “Let’s pack hundreds and hundreds of people on this big hill with a fairly high incline. That way, after they’ve tailgated for a few hours they can all fall forward onto the people in front of them. Beers will spill everywhere and then they’ll have to go buy more.) but Dave did play our song, right at the end of the night which made me so happy that all the eighty trimillion (yes that’s a number) fans faded away and it was just Nate and I, swaying on a hill to the instrumental solo of our favorite song. And before the night was over, Carter played an INSANE drum solo that just about made Nate’s entire year. I think I’ll count the entire weekend in the WIN column.

YAY! Sounds like the perfect weekend, I could use one of those! I went and saw DMB in Las Vegas this year. I usually see them every labor day weekend at The Gorge in central WA but Vegas was a huge treat and they put on such an amazing show this year. Seriously, I’ve been seeing them live for almost 10 years now and this year took the cake, they just get better and better!! This may have been your first DMB show but I’m certain it won’t be your last, I was a convert after my first show too :) xoxo
