Dana & James: Elopement at Wekiva Springs
Wekiva Springs State Park | Apopka, Florida
Dana and James are a beautiful couple. In every sense of the word. When they told me that they had decided to forgo a traditional wedding for an elopement at one of Nate’s and my favorite places in Central Florida I was beyond excited. Elopements hold a very special place in my heart. They are the epitome of romance and “all-we-need-is-love” magic. Which explains why that is exactly what Nate and I plan on doing as well. Dana and James had what we like to call a “planned elopement” which means that they had planned it in advance, told and invited their closest family and friends, and hosted a little party afterward. (Exactly what Nate and I are planning on doing. Seriously people, this is the way to go!) One of the best things about a wedding like this is how much time we have for portraits. Dana and James gave us THREE HOURS and let me tell you, we were on cloud nine. Add to that the fact that Dana and James wanted to jump into the springs toward the end and you’ve pretty much made us the two happiest photographers on the planet. I hope you enjoy these frames from their day narrated by Rascal Flatts (I have a feeling they like this song) and here’s wishing all the happiness in the world to Dana and James…
I think about the years I spent just passing through

I’d like to have the time I lost and give it back to you

But you just smile and take my hand

You’ve been there you understand

It’s all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Every long lost dream led me to where you are

Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars

Pointing me on my way into your loving arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you

But now I’m just rolling home

Into my lover’s arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

and led me straight to you.

What a stunning session! I love it!
beautiful couple and i’m lovin the shots in the water!
They look so in love and happy. The location is amazing!
Love these pictures, love that song, love this post! :) And I’m with you on the planned elopement. As much as I love wedding planning and weddings, I love the intimacy of just you, those closest to you, and your love. :)
Beautiful photos! I would love to have a great camera and wander around that park, there are so many awesome places for really interesting shots. You captured it perfectly and the song couldnt be more perfect.
These are beautiful and I love the lyrics… Very applicable to all of us in some way….. Love it!!!!
I feel like I’m a MP3 player on repeat, but LOVE the ring picture…. AGAIN, I love their inscription. The trash the dress picture with the rain was fantastic, don’t you love nature!
@Alli Yup, all one session. We had three hours for pictures so we got to explore the park and then finally ended up in the water when it started raining. :)
i love so many of these…where to start, where to start. Hmmmm….love how you guys caught the pedals (mid-air), love the warm tones in the wooded area; under the caption “Pointing me on my way into your loving arms” – her face, GORGEOUS! and love the rain shots, of course. was it all one session?
