Tuesdays with Nate

by Becka on September 1st, 2009

It’s been a week since I told you about some of the amazing differences that make our business and relationship so amazing. As promised, today I’m going to share about some of the things we see eye to eye on (insert short joke here)

iPhone addicts
Both of us are completely and utterly entrhalled by our iPhones. Although Becka still sports the older, antique black 3g (complete with cracked screen) and I’m rockin the new 32gb white 3gs (scratch and crack free), we are rarely without our phones. Maps, apps, games, music, movies, camera, and on and on. Our business runs on these things. I’ve personally made it a goal to ask everyone I know what their favorite app is. By the way, the person that leaves a comment with an APP that changes my life will be getting a prize!

Adventure experts
We love to get lost together (as long as we aren’t running late). Wrong turns, scenic routes, and Sunday drives with no goal in sight have birthed some of our favorite memories. We love to travel, to see new things and meet new people. We’ve made it a goal to visit every spring in Florida, we love zoos, themeparks, new restaurants, and will roadtrip for just about any reason.

Foodies!
We are lovers of food, we like to learn about it, make it, and eat it. Becka is a baker at heart. She loves the science that goes into, and is always filling the house with mouth watering smells and delicious new flavors. She’s gotten me to try tons of new, healthy vegetarian options, and I am optimistic that she will love red meat again someday. We love to cook for our friends, try new recipes, and shop at the farmers market. Our biggest hit so far were our deep fried Oreos and cheesecake…. Up next are deep fries Reeses’ Cups! Reviews and heart attacks to follow.

Other things we usually agree on
We LOVE spicy food
We both think American Dad is funnier than Family Guy (still watch both every week)
We love good cheese almost as much as we love good wine
We both love music, although rarely the SAME music
Both of us agree that mornings are evil

Thanks for reading, and remember to leave a comment telling me about your favorite iPhone apps!

The Todo (as in To-do list) app by Appigo is the only app on my phone that I paid for. It was $10(!!!!) which is kind of a lot for an app, but it is fantastic! It’s a to do list and a scheduler all in one and on crack (in a good way). You can create projects that have multiple components, and check them off as you go (ex: latest one is designing a ton of new sample albums…but you can do your grocery list on there too)

The tasks are organized by category (work, home, errands, etc.) and color coded. You can put in the time and date that they are due, and a red number pops up on the icon when you have things that are upcoming to do. It’s a great way to keep track of client meetings, who/what to invoice, and of course, wedding days.

There’s also a free version of it called Todo lite, so definitely try it out for free first and see if you like it. I love it :) Hope you do too!

I love that you and Becka want to go to every spring in Florida. Sounds like a fun, long-term adventure!

I have two favorite iPhone Apps! I love the Garage Sale App, it’s like a really fun, continuous scavenger hunt. It’s the best time waster I’ve found so far and it’s only $0.99! My second favorite is TVStatus (www.tvstatus.com), it tracks your favorite shows and tells you when they are on next. It’s perfect if you watch a lot of shows and it’s hard to keep track of when they are on/when they are coming back for the next season. It even has episode descriptions and a countdown until the airing of the show. I think it’s amazing but the designer is my boyfriend, so I’m a little biased ;)

Ok, this is not about an iphone app as I live in another country and having an iphone would both be retarded expensive and asking to be robbed….

However, I couldn’t leave this post without telling you that if you have ever had a smore and loved it, you must try smoreeses. We just came up with the name this summer, however, it’s been a delicious dessert for a while now! It’s quite simple. You have the graham cracker, the fire-hot marshmallow, and instead of a plain old hershey’s bar, you trade that in for a reeses cup. Hello heaven! You have to wait for a minute to let the marshmallow fully melt the reeses but it is SO worth the wait. Do it and tell me if I’m lying!

Also, Josh says to use an oreo instead of the graham cracker. Open the oreo and insert the marshmellow which melts the cream filling. Also sounds yummy, but I’ve yet to try it.

Let me know if you decide to try them!

Ok, so this may not be life changing for most…..but I love the Star Wars Light Saber app! O yes, I can now have REAL light saber sound effects, even tho I believe that my impressions were perty darn good too. Plus I get the actual saber light, no longer do I have to hold up my hand and swish it around and make funny noises through my teeth!

The APP that rocked our world this weekend, On One. We set up a photobooth with this little guy and everyone was blown away. having complete camera controls on the iphone is ridiculous. Plus after the image had been taken they got a preview on the iphone itself so they could check out what they had done. Got ridiculous images from the booth because people were having so much fun with the technology from the APP. We will probably start using it for our studio children’s portraits simply to get me from behind the camera and interacting with the kids.
