Adventure day in Mount Dora
Mount Dora, Florida
Yesterday Nate and I had a day off. Our first in months and our last for many weeks. We knew only one thing: we needed to get out of the house- just the two of us -for an adventure day.
October and November of this year are our busiest months to date. Between October 1st and November 18th we’ll have shot 9 weddings, 5 portrait sessions, and hosted 2 events in 9 different different cities. So… there’s not much time left for adventuring.
For yesterday’s adventure, we headed out to Mt. Dora, a charming little city we’d never visited, about an hour away from where we live. We had no real plans except to find a certain canal (which we couldn’t find once we got there) and then discovered that the city was hosting a HUGE art festival. We ate way too much food at an amazing little Mexican restaurant, talked for hours, held hands, kissed a lot, had some beer at a place (referred to Nate by a client) called Maggie’s Attic, walked around all the artist’s tents, and took lots of photos of the sights and of each other with full creative freedom.
We thought we’d share some of our favorites from the day with you all and remind everyone to take time, in the midst of all the craziness of your busy lives to get away and connect with those who are the most important to you. Even if it’s just a drive to a nearby city, an art show, and way too much Mexican food. ;)

@Jeannie Thank you so much. That means a lot to us!

Gorgeous pictures as always. You two are cute together! Some of these pictures would be awesome for desktop backgrounds!
@Janaye We did see a train right in that downtown area that looked cute. Is that the same one? And thanks for the info. That explains why we couldn’t find anything! HAHA.
@Tara Yes. Thanks. We’ll have to try again another day for that Canal ;)
I love the shots of the two of you. Its always nice to see the photographer’s too :) Take a look at this link, I think they might discuss the ‘canal’ you were looking for? http://67daysofsmiles.com/
Girl, you are so pretty :) I’m glad you guys got to have your adventure day and have a day to YOURSELVES amidst all the craziness of work !
Loving that last photo! :)
I was there too AND ate at the Mexican Food Restaurant…. Sympatico…
Mount Dora is an awesome little place. I’ve lived there since I was 2. :) You should go back some time and ride the train. I was working at Office Depot all weekend so I didn’t get to run anything and didn’t know if they were running it or not.
The Dora Canal is not where you think it is either. It’s in Tavares. The reason it’s the Dora Canal is because Lake Dora meets Lake Eustis through Tavares. lol. I know. Confusing, right? lol. The train runs over the Dora Canal on it’s lunch and dinner trains. You should definitely check out the train. http://www.railflorida.com :)
