A few weeks ago I got my hands on the summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. (I know, I’m a bit behind.) As I was flipping through glossy spread after glossy spread I came upon a big section of DIY fabric decor. One project especially caught my eyes: fabric flowers. The little roses and peonies could be made into broaches or hair pins or headbands and looked adorable. I’d been eyeing similar trinkets at Anthropologie and figured it was worth a try to make them myself.
I decided to make it a party and invited some of our upcoming brides over for a ladies night. We snacked on goat cheese dip and cheesecake pops (Thanks Bakerella!), sipped white wine and homemade pomegranate soda (Thanks POM!), and I snapped photos of the whole thing. I had such a fantastic time getting to know all of my brides better, hearing them discuss their wedding plans, ideas, and honeymoon destinations with each other. But by far my favorite part of the night was that they kept referring to each other by the blog titles I gave their engagement shoots…
“Oh! So you’re Splendid China! I loved your pictures”
“Yes, and you’re Old Hollywood! That was gorgeous!”
You can read about the whole party and our final opinions on how easy/difficult the flowers were to make over on The Wedding Chicks front page today. They loved the idea of real life brides getting together to tackle some of the big DIY trends. They featured the entire thing over there today and asked us to do some more. Ask and you shall receive! We’ll have our next “Ladies of 222″ girls night in early 2010. Now all we have to do is come up with a project to try out. Any suggestions?

Those are awesome!!
Oh how fun! I would love to join you if you have another get together.. love DIY and fun times :)
@Khristen Yup, it’s pomegranate seeds in frozen sprite as the ice cubes. To make this spritzer combine lemon lime soda with POM juice. Free pomegranate seeds in sprite as ice cubes. It’s DELICIOUS! (And pretty)
my guess pomegranates :)
Ok- I wanna know what was floating in the punch???
What an awesome idea! I love it!!!
Such a fun night. Thank you for having us at your home!
