A Very Merry Christmas…

This Christmas, Nate and I decided, was absolutely and officially wonderful. There were a few things we would have liked to happen differently, if we could control the universe (like some of our best friends getting in a bad car accident in the morning, me ruining every batch of cookies, not having a lot of time visiting my family, and not being able to see 2 of our nephews). But even with it’s imperfections, Nate and I still felt like it was a perfect holiday. Not only were we extremely blessed this year to be able to give each other some really wonderful presents, but we were able to enjoy the holiday with our families, everyone in good health and happy.
We visited my family in Tampa on Christmas Eve for dinner and although we didn’t have tons of time in town, we were able to see both my parents which was wonderful. Nate and I got up early (after going to be late on Chrsitmas Eve) and exchanged gifts. Both of us were dying with excitement to give gifts to each other this year and completely spoiled each other. I cried when I opened the first one from him. I’m so excited to have hundreds (well, a girl can hope) more Christmases with him.
We hit the road later that day to visit Nate’s family in St. Augustine. That’s Nate’s parents and sister in the photo above. (How gorgeous does Leah look in that color blue!) They are all extremely close and it’s so much fun to get to see him with his family. (They made him sit for the photo because he’s about a foot taller than all of them.) Nate’s dad surprised him with a gorgeous vintage camera and, oh my word, he is beyond excited to start playing with it. I can’t wait to see what the images look like coming out of it. We’ll share some with you once we get some free time to play.
On the way home from St. Augustine we finished listening to an audio book that we’ve been working our way through for the last few months. (American Gods by Neil Gaiman) It was the perfect ending to a perfect holiday. I can’t wait till next Christmas. Who knows what 2010 will bring? Hopefully next year I won’t ruin all the cookies. ;)
