The last Tuesdays With Nate of 2009

Tuesdays with Nate – a Year in Review

Studio 222 Photography 4191460919 28a1166e19 o The last Tuesdays With Nate of 2009

This will probably be the last Tuesday with Nate for the year…. I am aware that there is one more Tuesday, but we have a wedding that day, and I am mediocre at best when it comes to being proactive at blogging. Maybe I’ll be inspired, or post a message from the road next week, but let’s just plan on this being the last one.

So, I’m going out with a bang. This year has been insane. I’ve started several times to try to list all of the things we’ve done, but keep realizing there are things I’m forgetting, so here’s some of the highlights:
-Trips to New York City, Grand Cayman/Cozumel, San Francisco
-I was promoted at my (other) work
-We got a bunch of new business toys (camera toys)
-The official founding of “Tuesdays with Nate” happened
-We got this sweet new blog
-New (to us) Car
-New (to me) Motorcycle
-We got engaged
-We held a beginners photography clinic and loved it
-We hired the talented Jeff Newsom as our wedding photographer
-We shot 25 weddings in our 2nd year (first full calendar year)
-A photo of ours made the cover of this magazine in which we also were interviewed by the talented Jeff Kent. (Thanks Jeff!)

That’s enough horn-tooting for now, (It really is encouraging to look back and see all the things you’ve accomplished in a year. Seriously, try it yourself!) but it’s been an amazing year and those listed above are just the tip of the iceberg. And as much as I am really excited about all of those things, I am truly the most greatful for all of the cliche’ essentials, things like our families (the more I get to know Becka’s, the more I love them), my (other) job, my health and the fact that we have insurance, a roof and food, amazing friends, and that I’ve convinced the most beautiful and talented girl in the world to promise herself to me until she’s dead.

1) What do you want more of in future Tuesdays with Nate
2) When did you realize that the best part of Christmas morning was when you got to watch someone else open the present you got them, and what was it?

It’s been a great year, thanks so much for reading, commenting, visiting, and for overall being amazing.

A Tim Burton Inspired Wedding | Megan & Billy

Dec 21 at 2:22 pm

Chapel by the Sea | Hilton Clearwater Beach | Clearwater Beach, Florida

When I was younger a movie called “The Nightmare Before Christmas” came out. I saw the previews all the time (What’s this? What’s this? There’s white things in the air?) I wanted to see it sooooo badly but my parents wouldn’t let me. Something about it being the opposite of what Christmas was really about, and giving me nightmares, and blah blah blah. But, I watched it the other day and I’ve got to admit… it would have given me nightmares. HAHA. I guess my parents were right. We’ll give em this one. But… I do really love the art of Tim Burton. I’d like to just take a walk around his imagination. I’d like to see what his house looks like. I’d like to know where he finds his inspiration.

Megan and Billy like him too. So much so that they made a kick arse cake topper out of the characters from one of his movies. Their favorite holiday is Halloween and so not only did they decide to give their wedding a distinct theme, they also decided to have it on Halloween. (At least they’ll never forget their anniversary. And they will always be able to get tons of candy to celebrate!) We had such fun getting to spend the holiday with them and wish them, and all their family and friends a wonderful holiday week! We hope you all enjoy reliving the day through our eyes…

There is a Tim Burton art exhibit at the MoMA right now. Not sure how long it’s there but if you’re planning a trip to NYC soon it sounds really amazing.

  • Megan S:

I am so excited to get to see these! These make me so excited for the rest. They are amazing and all I could have ever hoped for!!! Thanks Becka & Nate! It’s fun to get back into the Halloween spirit with all the Christmas stuff around :P

For those interested, a Frankentini consists of: 2 parts vodka; 1 part Sprite; 1 part sweet & sour mix; 1 part pineapple juice, and a splash of Blue Curacao (the amount of blue you put in determines the greenness of the drink!). You then shake the mixture together to get it opaque and slightly frothy. Let me tell you, these things were the hit of the night!! :)

  • Cheryl:

LOVE IT… The flowers against the dresses… love it… I also love the three generations…. Made me tear up and all… sniff, sniff… I told you it would give you nightmares… tee hee…. The daughter and her Dad… LOVELY!!!

On Good (Christmas-y) Things…

Dec 20 at 9:38 pm

Today we (hopefully) finished all of our Christmas shopping. I’m so excited for Christmas! I can’t even stand it. And, strangely enough, not even for myself. I’ve crossed into that strange phase of adulthood where I’m so excited for Christmas that I am counting down the hours (minutes, seconds…) just because I CAN’T WAIT to give people the presents I’ve gotten for them. Nate especially, because this year will definitely be the year where I take home the prize for #1 Best Present Giving Champion of the World. Not even joking, I’m that good. And I’m equally excited for the gifts we got our nephews. (You hear me Zach, Jake and Elijah? I actually had to go buy extra wrapping paper because I ran out trying to wrap these babies!) Not that it’s all about the presents, but those are just plain fun. (I cannot wait to have Christmas with my own kids one day. If you think the gift giving obsession is bad now, you haven’t seen anything yet!)

This week I plan on fulfilling a longstanding family tradition of Christmas cookies and fully intend on preparing hand decorated sugar cookies (a secret family recipe), snowballs (aka russian tea cakes), and these yummy chocolate mint goodies. (I’ve been on a peppermint kick all month.)

I am kind of in love with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I can’t even lie. Ever since Nate took me to the show for my birthday I’ve been all about their “carol of the bells”. Actually, I’m always all about any carol of the bells. It’s my favorite Christmas carol. I sang it once in youth choir for a Christmas show and have never forgotten any of the 67,343.75 words. If you’re stuck in a Christmas music funk, may I suggest my current 2009 Christmas playlist for your listening pleasure…

What are you loving this holiday season? Are you all about the Christmas spirit? Are you grinching it up this year? Any traditions you’re excited to take part in?

Ooh I love seeing what other people are listening to :) .. I must admit, unlike you, I am the worst present giver EVER! I never know exactly what people will want .. oh well, practice makes perfect haha.
