Disney Boardwalk | Orlando, Florida

Just wanted to pop in for a quick sneak peek for Mary and Paul. They are getting married this fall at Disney and were here in town (from their hometown of Toronto) for a week of wedding planning with the Disney team. We were so excited to finally get to meet them in person as we’d only ever gotten to speak on the phone. Maybe one day we’ll make it up to Toronto and they can show us around town. ;)

They wanted to shoot their engagement images at the Disney Boardwalk which is a really fun place to shoot. We’ve been here a lot recently so we challenged ourselves to find new nooks to shoot in and new perspectives on the lay of the land which is always a fun challenge. Mary and Paul, while practically melting to death in the Florida heat, were amazing and we can’t wait for their wedding in September. We’ll have more to show later on, until then, here’s 5 frames that made me smile…

Disney brides… while non-Disney photographers (like us) aren’t allowed at wedding events inside the parks, we do have a smaller collection that includes an engagement session like you see here and an heirloom quality custom designed wedding album, perfect for you if you’re getting married outside the park and having your reception inside. It’s funny how the internet opens up the world to you. I was sitting in my living room when a photograper friend of mine named Ryan, who I’ve never actually met in real life even though I’ve read his blog for like a year, and we email sometimes about photo stuff, twitters a link to a girl who lives in Ooooooklahoma. I click and then I spend the next few hours reading through her entire online journal, falling in love with her life, wishing instantly that we were real life best friends. (How creepy am I? Get off your thrown of judgement, you know you facebook stalk your exes.) Anyway, this girl who lives in Oooooooklahoma (where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, obviously) whom I adore even though I’ve never actually met or spoken to her, and who has the most beautiful wildly curly hair I’ve seen, happens to be a gardener. And she happens to share photos and adventures from her garden online. And I happen to have had a strong desire to build an above ground planter and grow vegetables and herbs. (We’re pretty much soulmates, you see?)

So… I did some research and drew some sketches and bought Nate a drill (he’s super excited about that) and stumbled upon what might be the absolute most amazing gardening store on the planet and bought wood and mulch and watched and cheered as Nate built me a planter box and spent yesterday evening elbow deep in organic potting soil (and then I beat my old record for longest run on sentence… ever). In case you’re interested, I’ll go into more detail later about how we built the box, what we planted and why, and all that fun stuff after I make sure the plants don’t all die this week. (I’m a bit nervous. I actually kissed the leaves on the cilantro after I pinched them against the container. What? I felt bad. And I kind of love these plants.) Grow babies, grow! Mama wants some salsa!

I have been very lucky, in this last year of my life, to have been introduced to some of the most amazing women I’ve ever met in my life. Genuine women. Deep women. Giving women. Soul friends, business friends, coffee friends, life friends…

A few such fantastical women are Orlando wedding coordinators, the lovely ladies of Blush by Brandee Gaar. I’ll go into more detail about how amazing they are in a full blog post later on but I wanted to give them a sneak peek of the images we shot with them at Bella Collina (one of our FAVORITE Central Florida venues) for their new website. We were so extremely honored when Brandee contacted us to ask if we would shoot their portraits. Brandee is an amazing wedding coordinator. She and her team put on the most effortlessly beautiful weddings that we’ve shot and we always ADORE working at weddings that they are coordinating. Oh, and they all happen to be ridiculously beautiful…

Love this last one. These women are fearless! :)
