Married at Disney, Ended with a Bang | Mary & Paul’s Sneak Peek

Sep 29 at 2:22 pm

Disney Wedding Pavilion, Walt Disney World | Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Mary and Paul came in from Toronto, Canada along with their closest family and friends to share not only their wedding day, but also their love of Disney World. For Mary and Paul, Disney holds many of their most precious and happy memories together so for their wedding they could think of no better way to express their love than to share that happiness with each other and with their dearest guests.

This wedding was absolutely spectacular from Mary’s Cinderella carriage ride, to a tearfilled ceremony, to a reception full of gorgeous details, to surprising their guests with a private, chartered yacht trip into the middle of the Disney Bay for a front row seat to the Wishes fireworks show over the Magic Kingdom.

We can’t wait to finish going through all the rest of the images but for now, here’s some of our favorite moments from their day. Enjoy…

Get your business in shape! | Liana’s Business Bootcamp in Orlando!

Sep 28 at 2:22 pm

Hello everyone! Today I’m taking a break from the photo posting (future brides please forgive me) to speak to my fellow business owners out there. Nate and I are so excited to announce that we are going to be hosting the incomparable Liana Lehman Hall and her Business Bootcamp 2-Day Intensive Workshop. I’ve been wanting to be a part of this workshop since I first started our business in 2008 and I’m so excited that it’s finally happening! The workshop is an intimate and intense 2 days of taking a hard look at your business and your financials and whipping them into shape. If you’re like me, you’re better at the artistic side than the business and taxes side. That’s where Liana steps in!

Here’s how Liana describes her workshop:

The Business Boot Camp (BBC) is an intense, intimate two-day experience designed to help you take your photography business to the next level, enforce business health and profitability, and create a better work/life balance.

Expect to come prepared with a lot of hard work and thought put in beforehand. On the first day, we will look at your goals and make a plan for our time together based on what is needed the most. We will likely cover a variety of topics including but not limited to some of the following: pricing, packages, merchandising, sales, branding, marketing, workflow, communications, office management, taking better photos straight out of the camera, and customer service.

The format of the class is a small-group discussion environment so you can expect to actively particpate and take your turn in sharing, brainstorming/working, listening, and observing. You will not be bored to tears with two days of lectures and presentations. The two days will be intense but will fly by!

You can learn more and get all the information about the Workshop on Liana’s Business Bootcamp website. Registration is limited to 8 studios and Liana has given me the go-ahead to extend the invitation not only to photographers but to other local business owners as well! So if you’re a planner, a baker, a graphic designs maker, or whatever else, you are invited to come and get your learn on about giving your business the foundation it needs to be successful and profitable.

This workshop is an investment in yourself and your business and you can read reviews from past attendees on her website. (I’ve never heard anything but AMAZING reviews.) And I’m giving you tons of advance notice to save up! The workshop is going to be January 10-12, 2011 at our studio in Winter Park, Florida. Nate and I are considering the experience our Christmas gift to our business. It’s perfect timing as it will be right after year end, as you’re getting ready to organize yourself and your financials for the upcoming year.

Take a look, talk it over (with yourself or your business partner) and when you’re ready, go ahead and sign up. We’re limited to 8 businesses to keep things intimate. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us. We can help you find lodging if you’re coming in from out of town as well. We can’t wait to see you in January!

How She Go? | Kylee & Chris’ Michigan Encore

Sep 27 at 2:48 pm

Iron River, Upper Peninsula, Michigan

How she go? It’s what the men in Kylee’s family ask when they walk by you. It’s what they say when they pick up the phone. They’re asking how we’re doing, how everything’s going. And it was going great! I decided to forgo the wedding sneak peek first because we already showed everyone at the reception a same day edit slideshow so they had their own private sneak peek. But these photos, these they haven’t seen.

This is part one of Kylee and Chris’ Day After session. Can I even begin to express how much we loved the UP? I’m not sure I can. It’s gorgeous, and sprawling, and temperate, and colorful. The people have more charm and southern hospitality than we’ve got here in the south. Everyone is family, or acts like it, and it’s incredibly welcoming. I can see why Kylee loves her hometown so much.

Kylee and Chris took us on a roadtrip from Iron River, where Kylee grew up, to the top of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (which is actually attached to Wisconsin, not Michigan… tricky) to explore some amazing industrial sites in the old, abandoned mining areas. The UP still has the fingerprints of the old iron mining industry all over it and there’s nothing stopping anyone from just parking on the side of the road and walking into these amazing sites of worn out structures. Nate and I joked that we were going to raise our portrait prices so we could afford to fly all our couples up there for a session. ;) My words fail me in describing how much of a wonderland it was. I’ll just show you…
