How She Go? | Kylee & Chris’ Michigan Encore
Iron River, Upper Peninsula, Michigan
How she go? It’s what the men in Kylee’s family ask when they walk by you. It’s what they say when they pick up the phone. They’re asking how we’re doing, how everything’s going. And it was going great! I decided to forgo the wedding sneak peek first because we already showed everyone at the reception a same day edit slideshow so they had their own private sneak peek. But these photos, these they haven’t seen.
This is part one of Kylee and Chris’ Day After session. Can I even begin to express how much we loved the UP? I’m not sure I can. It’s gorgeous, and sprawling, and temperate, and colorful. The people have more charm and southern hospitality than we’ve got here in the south. Everyone is family, or acts like it, and it’s incredibly welcoming. I can see why Kylee loves her hometown so much.
Kylee and Chris took us on a roadtrip from Iron River, where Kylee grew up, to the top of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (which is actually attached to Wisconsin, not Michigan… tricky) to explore some amazing industrial sites in the old, abandoned mining areas. The UP still has the fingerprints of the old iron mining industry all over it and there’s nothing stopping anyone from just parking on the side of the road and walking into these amazing sites of worn out structures. Nate and I joked that we were going to raise our portrait prices so we could afford to fly all our couples up there for a session. ;) My words fail me in describing how much of a wonderland it was. I’ll just show you…

My family is from the UP – I adore it. Next time, check out the Pictured Rocks – they are absolutely stunning.
Love the one where their faces are half shadowed, love the ring shot, love the location and the wide angle with them at the water
killer location guys!
Wow… The area is gorgeous! Love the use of the shadows in 4 & 5! Great shots!
Amazing location! Love the use of light on the head on portrait, very very nice.
Their reflection in the water next to the old piece of machinery is beautiful.
Oh my, these are STUNNING! Why can’t we have places like this in Florida?!
Wow! That has to be the coolest location!! Awesome photos!
