Upper Peninsula, Michigan

Just one from our Encore session with Kylee and Chris the day after their wedding in the Upper Peninsula, Iron River, Michigan. We fell in love with the fire-colored forests and sapphire lakes (and I tried to talk Nate into building a cabin up here). It has been an amazing weekend filled with food, unimaginably beautiful countryside, and the friendliest family members we’ve ever met. We’re a bit sad to say goodbye to this magical land where leaves change colors every day, lakes stretch farther than the horizon, and apples grow on trees. ;)

We’ve been looking forward to the next few weeks for the entire last year and a half. The next few weeks, while being a bit crazy and packed to the brim, are going to be so very exciting and a huge adventure.

Today we are on our way to Iron River, Michigan to shoot the wedding of Kylee and Chris. We absolutely can’t wait to see them again and get to escape Florida’s heat for Michigan’s autumnal temperatures. As we stand at the edge of our fall season, ready to topple into it head over heels, we feel like we’re standing on the edge of a storm. A last few moments of calm before the wind picks us up, twirls us around, and plops us back down into winter.

I’m happy to have time on airplanes when I can just sit and read and write without any pressure to check my email or edit photos. I’m stranded in my seat. Nate and I have a lot of hours of sitting in chairs in the sky ahead of us and I’m excited for the ideas that are born during that time. Nate took these photos recently on his Hasselblad and I love them. They just look like fall to me.

Seabreeze Point, Disney Boardwalk | Lake Buena Vista, Florida

“Jessica and I met for our first date on a bench at the Porte Cochere at the Boardwalk.” Robin listed in their wedding details. An now, on their wedding day they are returning to the place where it all began. A merging of people, of families, and of heritages, Robin and Jessica embody the type of fairytale love that Disney fairytales are known for. The American boy fell in love with the girl from Finland and the rest is happily ever after. We are always so flattered when couples using the talented team at Disney Fairytale Weddings ask us to come in and capture their special day, since Disney has their own photographers already. It’s a special feeling to come into a day so characterized by romance, joy, and happiness. Disney, for me, was always a place where you could believe that anything was possible, that a prince was out there waiting to sweep you off your feet, and where any girl could be a princess. Couples that choose Disney as the location for their wedding all share that childlike appreciation for magic and it is always so much fun to capture it in images. Romance and joy…
