WELCOME TO OUR BLOG…
We are Becka & Nate, twenty-somethings and modern wedding photography couple. And we hereby promise we will never use selective color, fake photoshop motion blur, or fuzzy white vignettes. We love coffee and wine (but not together, obviously). We believe that images should be unique, emotions should be authentic, and cheddar should be sharp. We know that real connections in front of the camera start with real connections behind it, so if you’ve made it this far, we’d love to have coffee with you at our studio. A LITTLE ABOUT US…
In case you’re curious… We quote movies and comedians a lot. (Especially Jim Gaffigan) We are Macs. We drink lots of coffee (and especially enjoy flavored creamers). We eat dinners out with friends too often. We listen to audio books while driving. We love traveling. We have a slightly (okay, not so slightly) irreverent senses of humor. We have unhealthy attachments to our iPhones (and most Apple toys, for that matter). We like good music. Nate is a technology junkie. Becka could live for eternity in Anthropologie. We slow dance together at least once at every wedding. We like to relax at the wine bar in Thornton Park and grill veggies on our back porch. We add hot sauce to almost everything we eat. We love to cook dinner together. Our baby is a rescued lab mix named Eisley. We live downtown. We really enjoy capturing the details. A LITTLE MORE OFFICIAL…
Nate was born in Alabama and spent his childhood traveling to south and central America and Asia with his parents doing missions work. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Human Resource Management. After college he began a career at the world’s most impressive computer company while dabbling in photography as a hobby on the side. In 2008 he joined me in my creative venture, Studio222 Photography, as the token gadget nerd and technical smarty pants. In 2009, on a boat in the middle of the ocean he asked me to be his wife and in 2010 he joined me in running this business full time.
I (Becka) was born and raised on the west coast of Florida. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Hospitality Management I began assisting a local wedding photographer while working as a post processing artist for other wedding photographers. As I got more and more immersed in the art and business of photography I got more and more excited about the potential I envisioned it having for my life. In early 2008, I started Studio222 Photography shooting portraits. Nate joined me that summer and we jumped head first into the crazy world of wedding photography. We have an incredible desire to produce images that leave the world breathless and to also make a difference in the industry and creative community.
In our first 2 years of business, we have had images published many times in national periodicals including having an image featured on the cover of Professional Photographer Magazine and have been featured on various wedding planning websites including Brides and The Knot. An image of ours was chosen as a finalist in the prestigious Top Knots competition hosted by Photo District News Magazine in 2009 and the same image was chosen to be used in PDN’s 2010 marketing for the contest. We shot our first international wedding in early 2010, and were invited to speak at the Professional Photographer’s of America’s Iowa state conference, as well as at our local PUG chapter.
