Vero Beach, Florida

Trevor and Keli are both a bit reserved in a way that makes you want to get to know more about each of them. They came down to Florida where their families live from their home in North Carolina for their elegant and modern wedding at the private oceanfront community of the Windsor Country Club in Vero Beach, Florida. When we first met them there to shoot engagement photos and talk about their wedding, we were instantly struck by the beauty of the grounds. When you first turn in you are transported by a row of arching old Florida oak trees that lead to a large clubhouse building filled with sunlight and gorgeous details.

Keli and Trevor trusted us completely with the storytelling of their day, their only request being photos on the golf course near the interestingly shaped trees that dotted the green. We were so happy they suggested that because we were able to find one of the coolest trees we’d ever seen for one of our favorite portraits of all time.

Keli and Trevor were surrounded by friends and family that loved them so much that you could feel it in every glance, hug, and toast throughout the night. But I think the real story of the day was the quiet adoration that Keli and Trevor each have for each other that ran like a thread through the day tying each moment and detail together. Here is the story of Keli and Trevor’s wedding day…

  This guy gets our logo on his back because he blatantly stepped right in front of me when they started walking back down the aisle. Luckily, I’m good at my job. ;)

“Our first date Drew was showing me around his wine fridge, came to this bottle and said, ‘I’m saving this 1988 for my future wife and I to share on our wedding night.’ My thoughts at that exact moment….’challenge accepted!’” That’s a quote from Melissa herself before taking her victory gulp from the 1988 vino. And I’m pretty sure that quote sums up these two more perfectly than I ever could.

Melissa and Drew first met with us over Skype across a few time zones as talk of their wedding plans slowly digressed into discussions of and Nate and Drew’s mutual love of craft beer. As you can imagine, it was destined from the beginning. They planned a fantastic party of a destination wedding down in Sarasota at the Ritz Carlton complete with Team Bride/Groom buttons, embroidered Converse, and custom stamps of their lovely likenesses. We didn’t get a chance to meet them face to face till their wedding weekend but when we finally saw Melissa in a black mini tutu and Drew standing in the corner with a cold drink in his hand, we knew we’d hit the jackpot.

Here’s some sweet words from Melissa herself:

“How do we love Becka and Nate, let me count the ways….
We believe finding a great photographer is one of the, if not THE most important things about your wedding planning. If you think about it, the pictures are truly the only thing that will last besides your marriage, even memories may fade. We wanted to find photographers that made us feel comfortable in the way you could go down to the local pub and have a pint together without those awkward silences. We found everything we were looking for in Becka and Nate. Not only did they have the artistic expression we were looking for but I believe we did have a beer together on our first Skype date…ahh love.
Having Becka and Nate at the wedding for our 3 day extravaganza was the best! They fit in with our friends and family members so well that I felt a little silly introducing them as “our photographers” on that first night; I should have said “friends”.
The day of the wedding was perfect. Our wedding party was small but even then Becka blended in so well I didn’t even realize she was there half the time. I wanted my husband Drew to feel comfortable having some “guy” photograph him getting ready and Nate was the perfect mans man. Drew felt comfortable and actually quite enjoyed the experience.
The BEST part of Becka and Nate besides the friendship, great pictures and their amazing taste in beer is the fact that not one photo is forced. There are no fake smiles, there are no fake moments only pictures that reflect exactly what our wedding was…an amazing time full of love, friends and family. Becka and Nate are amazingly talented photographers and people, and the perfect addition to any wedding. Congratulations on your new blog Becka and Nate!!!!”
