This is a different type of instant film. It’s actually medium format. This is Nate’s favorite of all of our vintage cameras. I love how my film photographs always turn out a bit dreamy, while Nate’s are always turning out a bit bad ass…

This is a big post for me. These are my favorite portraits that I’ve ever shot, this first one being my absolute favorite. I love the spectrum of colors from hazy aqua to fushia. And I’m kind of in love with the crystallization that happened at the top of the last frame. It almost looks like a sun. I’m quite taken with how unpredictable these old cameras and temperamental films are. It can be frustrating to work with but when it works, it’s absolute perfect imperfection. Polaroid is quickly becoming my favorite creative medium. It’s almost magical. This particular type of film, and the way the the colors develop reminds me of a fire opal. I just adore the color of concrete in photos. Give me a cloudy sky and a bunch of big concrete walls any day.  Let me introduce, Raji and Kayla, who are an amazing couple. We met over Skype and they told us how they’re trying to make their wedding their own, even if it goes against tradition, and we love that. This next shot is the first I took from the entire session. They needed no “warming up”.We had an amazing time wandering around downtown Orlando and Lake Eola for their session which they requited have a bit of an urban flair to it. Done and done.

This is one of my favorite series of engagement images we’ve ever taken so thank you to Raji and Kayla for giving me the gift of photographing who they really are together. The sweet tenderness they share, the obvious joy, the chemistry. And that super sexy super wide black and white that Nate captured toward the end? Gah… so good. We’ll be more than happy to photograph these two anytime they ask! Let the wedding countdown begin. xo.
