We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday weekend! We took it easy (kind of) and had a full house of family staying in town so that we could sleep in and bake goodies and just hang out for the day. Cadence and I came down with a nasty mystery cold this week so he spent most of the day crying or sleeping and I nursed a stomach ache, cough, and all around blah-ness. My mom and I baked coconut cupcakes and mini cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and made coconut macaroons with almond joy chocolate drizzles on top. Nate made amazing burgers and a variety of kabobs, our family brought potato salad and chips and we feasted! There was ladder golf, lots of xbox, a bit of Draw Something, and a mini photoshoot with Cadence sporting some bunny ears. All around we’d call it a success.

Before I show you these last few photos, I’ve got to tell you about them. We were outside playing in the yard taking photos of Cadence. Nate was laying on his back holding him up in the air over him (air baby style) and he called me over to take a photo from his viewpoint. While I was taking the picture Cadence spit up and there was no where for it to go but right down on Nate’s face. I instantly started laughing HYSTERICALLY because, well, obviously. I have no idea how I took the photo of the spit up because my eyes were closed and I was actually crying I was laughing so hard. Nate was a trooper and just wiped it all off his face after he got done laughing. Then he stole the bunny ears. That last photo is me crying because I’m laughing so hard. Best moment ever…

becka, nate, eisley, and cadence

Cadence is 2 months old now. It crazy how fast and at the same time how slow these last two months have gone. We took his two month photo yesterday and I couldn’t believe what a difference there is between it and the photo we took when he was one week old. I mean, I KNOW he’s gotten bigger but I just didn’t realize how much bigger! He’s so much more like a little person now. He has quite the repertoire of expressions and goofy movements that he entertains us with including a pretty adorable fist pump. He watches us as we move around him and he turns his attention to us when we talk to him. It’s nice to finally get reactions from him after feeling like we were caring for a potato sack for a while. ;) I can’t wait to see him laugh, I hear that is coming up soon. And he’s so close to being able to completely hold his head up. Right now he still looks a bit like a drunk with his head wobbling back and forth. We wonder if he’s going to skip crawling all together because he already tries to stand up and put weight on his legs. He’s pretty much doubled his weight since he was born now porking in at around 12 pounds. His eyes are still steel gray. We thought for a while they might change to brown but then they reverted back to gray again. Mystery of mysteries those eyes are.

He was such a smooshy little nugget before and now look at him! With his big ole feet and skeptical eyebrows. He’s also much less tan now. He was strangely tan for the first month or so. Now his skin color looks more like ours. He looks great in all the same colors that Nate looks great in: steel gray, navy blue, army green… And that little navy blue star onesie? No way that fits anymore. I never thought I’d be sad about him growing out of clothes but I totally am. I loved those tiny newborn onuses. I’m so glad we took these incremental photos so we can compare. I’m going to have to make an album of them one day.
