But first let me say that this was our first brunch wedding and it was on a rooftop in historic St. Augustine Florida. (At the White Room, to be exact.) And it was just all kinds of adorable. Beth loves how fancy hats are so she teasingly requested that guests don some sort of fancy little hat and surprisingly to her, almost everyone did! Some guests even rented authentic vintage ones from a nearby shop!

Also, this wedding is full of favorite images of mine but perhaps one that takes the cake is the series that Nate captured of Adam while he was all ready and waiting to see Beth for the first time.

He sat in silence on a concrete bench wringing his hands in nervous anticipation and the images from that moment are just captivating. Because that’s what this is all about- moments. The ones you want to remember forever and the feelings that were attached to them. I hope that Beth is always able to look back and know how tenderly she has been loved by Adam.

Kristin and Patrick got married at The River House in one of our favorite cities, St. Augustine. We love that so many couples invite us up there to tell their wedding stories and we always love being in the little Spanish-influenced, historic beach town with all it’s old world charm. If you have never visited St. Augustine, you should plan a little weekend getaway there. And while you’re there grab a beer from J.P. Henley’s and try some of the salsas at Pepper Palace. And then cool your burning lips off with a waffle cone from Kilwin’s. You’ll thank me, I promise.

Kristin and Patrick planned a sunny outdoor wedding at the River House after getting ready at the gorgeous Casa Monica Hotel downtown. But Florida’s unpredictable weather had other plans and it sprinkled all morning getting everything just wet enough to make the outdoor ceremony impossible. But the amazing team at the River House quickly set up Plan B and Kristin and Patrick ended up being the first couple EVER to have their ceremony in the romantic library which, in my opinion, was an absolutely GORGEOUS end result.

And lucky for all of us, the sun came out for just long enough at sunset for Nate and I to hop in the limo with the wedding party and get some portraits downtown which was one of Kristin’s biggest must have’s.

These two had so many little surprises for each other and their families and friends all day that it made telling their story in still photographs even more entertaining. They gave us so much to work with, completely opening themselves up for us and even welcoming us to sit with the guests at their reception so we wouldn’t have to miss a moment. Thank you both so much for letting us tell your story! And without future adieu, the love story of Kristin and Patrick…

Instead of individual groomsmen gifts, Patrick (who happens to share a love for good craft beers with Nate) hunted down and purchased an extremely rare specialty craft beer and celebrated with his best guys (and graciously included Nate) by popping the top and letting everyone share in the experience before the ceremony. Cheers!

The library of the River House was so charming and felt more like a private clubhouse with gorgeous details on the bookcases and huge windows lighting the entire room.

You are magnificent, Kristin.

Partick and his guys also shared this jar of Ole Smoky Moonshine which smells just as intense as you might imagine. ;)

Saint Augustine is the (self-proclaimed) oldest city in the country. As far as American cities go, it is one of the most charming I’ve seen. We are there a lot. Nate’s family lives there and a lot our couples ask to shoot there. It’s easy to understand why. The downtown area of the city is magical. It’s gorgeous, it’s breezy, it’s charming, and it feels like you left America and were transported to some lost city in Europe. We love to go there to shoot but it can be hard to be creative after walking the same streets with our cameras time after time. For Amanda and Adam’s engagement session in our beloved little home away from home, we decided to take a break from the downtown blocks that we generally stroll and headed to a spot that we had discovered after making a wrong turn on our last trip. We shot 80% of this session on the property of this gorgeous church. It was perfect. And I am so happy with the images from this session. They are completely different from any other St. Augustine shoot we’ve ever done. They feel different. They are quieter. But so are Amanda and Adam. Our couples breathe energy into our images and from Amanda and Adam we got a quiet happiness. Gosh I just love them. I’ll stop now and let you take a look. It feels good to have such a full bodied post to share with everyone today. The week is flying by and I feel like I’m still not even close to being dug out of the mountain of work we’ve got. Wednesday is always a sad day because it’s when Nate goes back to his part time day job and I’m left in the house by myself to keep plugging away at things. I get a bit spoiled by the 4 days we get to spend together in a row each week. On a happier note, HAPPY ST. PATTY‘s DAY! I tried to put on something green today but found that I only only have two green shirts and one is from high school. Needless to say, I’m not a big fan of either of them. I need some emerald green in my closet. (And maybe some heather gray. Just for fun.)

I decided to sign up for Susannah Conway’s Unravelling Course. I’m truly excited about it. Except that it’s the 2nd week and I haven’t even started on my first week’s assignments. (Overachiever, right here.) I’m thinking of doing the entire course in film instead of digital to push myself even further. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now but each time Susannah has opened up a new course, it has sold out in the first 10 minutes. This last time, I happened to be sitting in front of my computer when I got the email that registration was open. Has anyone else ever done the Unravelling course? PS. I’d really love some coffee right now.

And because I wanted to make an announcement anyway for all my shopaholic and fashion loving friends. Four cool things happened recently: Anthropologie announced their upcoming bridal line. (WHHHHHATTTT? I know!) The Limited is also taking the leap into bridal with dresses under $300. And White House | Black Market listed a limited edition gown that is just lovely! (Just PLEASE for the love of all things holy, don’t wear it with white satin shoes like the model. Try these instead!) And Liberty of London started gracing the shelves of local Target stores. (Let’s take a second to talk about the baby girl dresses? Be still my ovaries.)

On to Kristin & Travis…

They had an “Hourglass Ceremony” which is a really creative spin on the more common sand ceremony…

Their night culminated as the clocks counted down to New Years and ended with a kiss as husband and wife…
